Efficient. Accurate. Engineered for Performance.
SED’s Distillation Columns are designed for precise vapor–liquid separation with minimal pressure drop (ΔP), enabling smoother vapor flow, reduced energy consumption, and superior product purity.
Whether for tray-type or packed-column configurations, SED’s advanced designs are built to perform efficiently under vacuum or mild-pressure conditions - making them ideal for pressure-sensitive chemical and bio-based processes.
Engineered for durability and optimized for process efficiency, SED’s distillation solutions are used across industries - from petrochemical refining to food and pharma - delivering reliability, scalability, and clean separation every time.
Core Components Include:
- Column Shell: The main vessel housing trays or packing.
- Trays or Packing: Enhance vapor–liquid contact to promote mass transfer.
- Reboiler: Heats the feed to generate vapor.
- Condenser: Cools and condenses vapor back into liquid.
- Reflux Drum: Collects and redistributes condensed liquid to improve separation.

Each element is engineered for maximum efficiency, ensuring the desired purity and recovery with optimized energy use.

How It Works
Feed Introduction
The liquid feed enters mid-column.
Vapor–Liquid Contact
- Tray Columns: Vapor rises through perforated trays while liquid descends via downcomers.
- Packed Columns: Vapor and liquid flow counter-currently across high-surface packing media for enhanced interaction..
Low ΔP Design
Proprietary internal designs - structured packing and open-area trays - minimize vapor resistance, reducing overall pressure drop across stages.
Condensation & Reflux
⦁ At the top, vapor is condensed; part is returned as reflux to sharpen separation efficiency.
Product Withdrawal
High-purity distillate is collected at the top, while concentrated residue is drawn off from the reboiler.
