The paper and pulp industry consumes large amounts of water during pulping, washing, bleaching, and papermaking, generating high volumes of wastewater. The wastewater mainly comes from, residual liquid produce during pulp treatment know as black liquor, white water from paper machines, washing, screening & bleaching discharges

These effluents are:

  • Dark, odorous, and loaded with organic matter, chemicals, lignin & black liquor.
  • Presence of refractory and non-biodegradable compounds.
  • High COD and BOD.
